Rita O’Dwyer, DDS, MS, MPH

Dr. O’Dwyer was born and raised on Long Island and earned her dental degree from Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine in 2017. She completed a General Practice Residency at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and her Endodontic residency training at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. 
 
Throughout her dental career, Dr. O’Dwyer has received numerous awards in endodontics, clinical care, and community service. She has a Master of Science in Oral Biology and has published research in the Journal of Endodontics involving the use of cone-beam computed tomography and has an in-depth research background in Regenerative Endodontics using stem cells.  She is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the current Director of Pre-Doctoral Education in Endodontics at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. In addition, she volunteers at St. Charles Hospital GPR as an attending Endodontist in Port Jefferson. She is actively involved in endodontic research and attends continuous seminars in endodontics to maintain the best practices and deliver cutting-edge treatment and evidence-based dental care for her patients.
 
Dr. O’Dwyer has a great reputation of providing personalized, gentle and compassionate dental care for all of her patients and is well-trained in both Surgical and Non-Surgical Endodontics, treating both adult and pediatric patients.

Jerome J. Cymerman, DMD

Dr. Cymerman has over 25 years of experience as an endodontist. He completed his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He completed his general practice residency at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He finished his Endodontic residency at Nassau County Medical Center and was the chief resident. After completing his endodontic residency, he achieved board certification with the American Board of Endodontics and is a member of the College of Diplomates. He also has been a clinical attending dentist at Nassau County Medical Center, St. Charles Hospital and Stony Brook University Hospital. He has lectured nationally and internationally on various topics in endodontics. His areas of expertise include treatment of traumatic dental injuries, microsurgical root canal therapy, regenerative endodontics and the use of cone beam computed tomography in endodontics.

In addition to endodontic private practice, Dr. Cymerman is an associate clinical professor at the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. He was the Director of the Division of Endodontics and pre-doctoral endodontics. Dr. Cymerman was also the post-graduate director of the Advanced education program in Endodontics for several years. He has been involved and continues to be involved in Endodontic research and has published numerous peer reviewed research articles in the Journal of Endodontics.
